USA PAtriots AMPUTEE GOLF

about

Our Mission

The USA Patriots, formerly known as the Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team, is a nonprofit organization committed to empowering veteran amputees through inclusive sport and therapeutic recreational activities. Since 2011, we have provided athletic programming, community outreach, and youth initiatives that demonstrate the abilities of post-trauma athletes. Our new golf program aligns with this mission, offering amputee veteran athletes a new avenue to engage in sport, build camaraderie, and showcase their resilience and determination.

The goal of the USA Patriots Golf Program is to bring together amputee & adaptive golfers to promote the benefits of inclusive sport and foster a supportive community. By creating opportunities for adaptive athletes to participate in golf, we aim to inspire and motivate people of all abilities, support children with physical challenges, and offer our veterans a continued sense of purpose and service.

Our History

The USA Patriots organization began with a single week of spring training for veterans at Walter Reed hospital, providing a transformative experience through softball. Recognizing the powerful impact of adaptive sports on both physical and emotional recovery, the team was formally established in 2011. Since then, our programs have expanded to include a nationally recognized softball team, a youth camp for children with limb loss, and various educational initiatives.

Our new golf program builds on this foundation of success, offering amputee and adaptive athletes a new platform to develop their skills and connect with the community. Through clinics, tournaments, and mentorship opportunities, our veterans continue to serve as role models, demonstrating that life without limbs can be limitless.

Our Programs

Team Golf Events

Our golf program offers adaptive athletes the chance to participate in organized team events, fostering a sense of belonging and teamwork. These events provide therapeutic benefits by improving physical skills, enhancing mental focus, and promoting social interaction.

Future Endeavors

Golf Clinics and Adaptive Training

As we look to the future, we are planning to introduce specialized golf clinics focusing on adaptive techniques. These clinics will be conducted by professional golf instructors and physical therapists experienced in adaptive sport, aiming to help athletes of all skill levels develop their game while addressing the unique challenges they face.

Youth Golf Camp

We are also working towards launching a youth golf camp modeled after our successful kids’ softball camp. This future program will provide children with limb loss the opportunity to learn the sport from veteran athletes. The camp will empower young athletes by offering mentorship from those who have overcome similar challenges, fostering confidence and a love for the game.

Community Outreach and Education

Our commitment to education extends beyond our athletes. We work with communities across the country to raise awareness about the capabilities of adaptive athletes and the importance of inclusive sport. Through partnerships with schools, corporate sponsors, and medical professionals, we aim to change perceptions and inspire broader support for adaptive athletics.
