FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

USA Patriots Launch New Adaptive Golf Program to Empower Veteran Amputees

USA Patriots Veteran Athletics is excited to announce the launch of its new golf program. This initiative aims to provide injured veterans a fresh platform to engage in sport, build camaraderie, and demonstrate their resilience and determination. The program is a natural extension of the organization’s long-standing commitment to supporting and empowering veteran amputees through inclusive athletic opportunities and therapeutic recreational activities.

“We are excited to launch our new golf program, which has been eagerly anticipated for some time. This initiative not only provides our athletes with another platform to showcase their skills, but also creates new opportunities to engage more injured veterans in our mission,” said Rich Cress, USA Patriots Athletics Executive Director.

“I am so proud to announce the addition of golf under the USA Patriots umbrella. With this addition, the organization can reach other veterans whose interest or abilities may not include the game of softball. I hope to see the Patriot teams grow and continue our commitment to helping children with amputations by including past alumni campers who are ready to represent the USA Patriots. As an organization, we look to the future with excitement and renewed fervor,” said Josh Wege, USA Patriots Player and President.

Since its founding in 2011, the USA Patriots has been dedicated to showcasing the abilities of post-trauma athletes through sport, community outreach, and youth initiatives. The introduction of the golf program represents an exciting new chapter for the organization, providing veterans the chance to experience the physical and mental health benefits of golf while fostering a supportive and inclusive community.

“Golf gives me the ability to put a lot of life’s mess and chaos on the back burner while I can compete in a way that is beneficial to my own mental health. It’s incredibly hard, and yet so simple, but the bad days on a golf course can still be fun and I don’t believe you can ever really master the game,” shared Cody Rice, Army Veteran and current USA Patriots Board of Director.

Future Endeavors

As part of the program’s growth, the USA Patriots plan to introduce specialized golf clinics that focus on adaptive techniques. These clinics will be led by professional golf instructors and physical therapists with expertise in adaptive sports, aiming to help athletes of all skill levels improve their game while addressing their unique challenges.

In addition, the organization is developing a youth golf camp modeled after their successful kids’ softball camp. This future program will provide children with limb loss the opportunity to learn golf from veteran athletes, offering mentorship, building confidence, and nurturing a love for the game.

Community Outreach and Education

Aligned with the USA Patriots’ mission, the golf program will also serve as a platform for community outreach and education. The organization will engage with schools, corporate sponsors, and medical professionals to raise awareness about the capabilities of adaptive athletes and the importance of inclusive sport. By sharing their stories and experiences, the athletes aim to inspire and motivate others facing similar challenges.
