2020 Kids Camp Virtual Fundraiser

April 10, 2020 by The USA Patriots Team

[Norfolk, Va., April 9, 2020] The largest philanthropic program of the USA Patriots launches a fundraiser like they have never hosted before. With the anticipation of Kids Camp 2020 still on the horizon, the USA Patriots aren’t letting up their efforts in providing sports to youth with limb differences.

The USA Patriots are currently hosting a virtual fundraiser on their website, which can be found at www.usawwast.org/kidscamp. This fundraiser has an added special component to it. For the first time ever, the team has secure a matching donor who has promised a gift of $15,000 in matching funds! Should their virtual fundraiser meet a $15,000 goal, this anonymous donor will match it, bringing the grand total to a hefty $30,000!

“This gift is truly a blessing to our camp efforts,” says Executive Director, Desiree Ellison. “While the funding is surely exciting, what is more meaningful is the fact that it will be able to fund SIX kids going to camp!” Kids Camp is a week long softball camp put on by the USA Patriots for kids across the country with limb loss/difference. No matter where the camper is from, the USA Patriots pay for them (and one parent/guardian) to fly out to the camp location, all of the lodging and meals, and any fun activities had throughout the week. Camp is supported by Official Camp Supporters (Easton, Smash it Sports, and the Libertore Fund for Children) as well as individual donors. Typically, the USA team also secures funding through donations made at each of their Tour of the States stops. This year will be quite difference with the beginning of their season being postponed due to COVID-19 “There is definitely a lot to make up for, and this fundraiser will close the gap of what we are losing not having as many events leading up to camp this year,” says Ellison.

“Camp is our biggest program and the most we are able to give back,” says infielder and Retired USMC, Saul Monroy. “It’s important for us to find ways to sill make it happen for these kids.”

The matching gift offer is running through May 29. Donations can be made online at www.usawwast.org/kidscamp or by mail at P.O. Box 11538, Norfolk, VA 23517.
