Sergeant (Retired) Daniel Lopez was born in 1979 and is from Brentwood, New York. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1997 and has a combat tour to Iraq in 2005-2006 serving as a mortarman. Nine days after his return from Iraq he was struck by a vehicle rendering him a right leg above the knee amputee. Sergeant (Retired) Lopez has been awarded an Army Commendation Medal and an Army Achievement Medal. He currently resides in Williamsburg, Virginia where he works for Reach Orthotic & Prosthetic Services.
