Chloe Hofman is a 24-year-old pediatric psychiatric nurse and USA Patriots Kids Camp alumni. Born six weeks premature with amniotic band syndrome, Chloe underwent multiple reconstructive surgeries throughout her childhood in an effort to make her left foot functional. After years of chronic pain and limited mobility, she made the life-changing decision to have her left leg amputated at age 15 on January 11, 2018.
Chloe first attended USA Patriots Kids Camp in 2015 at age 12, before becoming an amputee. Seeing other amputees living active, confident, and fulfilling lives completely changed the way she saw her own possibilities. The camp gave her the courage to see amputation not as something to fear, but as a path to freedom and independence.
Since then, Chloe has graduated high school, moved away from home for college, and graduated with honors with degrees in Nursing and Criminal Justice. Today, she works as a pediatric psychiatric nurse, supporting children facing behavioral and mental health challenges.
Outside of nursing, Chloe is passionate about representing the limb-difference community through modeling, advocacy, and sharing her story. She has modeled to promote greater visibility and representation of people with limb differences, including walking in Miami Swim Week and shooting campaigns with Aerie. Through these experiences, she hopes to show others that limb difference is just one part of who we are and that there are no limits to what is possible.
Now, Chloe returns to Kids Camp each year, hoping to give children the same sense of belonging, confidence, and possibility that was given to her. The USA Patriots didn’t just change how she walked; it changed the direction of her entire life.
