Airmen (Retired) Manny Del Rio was born in 1986 and is from Van Nuys, California. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 2004 and supported the Global War on Terrorism as an Aviation Boatswain Mate Handler. While working on the flight deck of the USS Kitty Hawk aircraft carrier, a jet that was being towed rolled over both of his legs rendering him a below the knee amputee. His awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. Airman (Retired) Del Rio currently resides in Los Angeles, California, where after graduating Grantham University with a BA in Criminal Justice, he is now employed by the Department of Justice.
